Govt has noted LTTEs regret

The government has noted the regret expressed by LTTE ideologue Anton Balasingham for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

However, the LTTE continued to be a proscribed organisation in India and its leaders were proclaimed offenders in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, minister of state for external affairs E Ahamed said in reply to a question.

He said it was also noted that Balasingham, in a recent interview, had sought Indias involvement in the peace process in Sri Lanka.
