The division bench of the Jharkhand High Court at Ranchi, which has been hearing the contempt of court proceedings filed by Tata Steel against the Jharkhand government, Friday gave the state government time till December 2 to make up its mind on the issue of renewal of the lease taken out by the company.

Sources said the state advocate-general, Mr A K Sinha, informed the court today that the government has already written to the deputy commissioner, East Singhbhum, to draw up a fresh 30-year lease agreement with Tata Steel for plots of land falling under Schedule I, II and III of the original agreement.
