Admitting differences within the UPA over the contentious Land Acquisition Bill, the government said on Friday that the Bill would be introduced after a ?due discussion.?

?There is a difference of opinion,? parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal confessed while responding to questions from the media at the customary end-of-session press conference this evening. ?It is a matter of priority ? we will do it (introduce the Bill) after due discussion,? he added. Referring to the divergence of views between Congress and Trinamool Congress, Bansal said, ?This is the essence of democracy.?

Bansal did not agree with the contention that the withdrawal of Judges Assets and Liabilities Bill was an embarrassment to the government. Nor was this the case regarding the Rubber Bill, which met the same fate on Thursday.
