Kobian, a manufacturer of motherboards, casings and other computer peripherals, is hard-selling its IScan IXA40S A4 scanner in the Indian market. The IScan IXA40S is an easy-to-use, high-speed scanner with a compact design that is ideal for users who need to scan on the move. Targeted at the SMB and the SOHO, the device is also suitable for front desk areas such as hotel reception desks, banks, patient intake, pharmacies, and remote deposit.
Kobian IScan IXA 40S has a slim frame that easily fits into your hand. It is black in colour and has a glossy finish. The white command button, on the front, glows when the scanner is connected with a PC via USB 2.0 cable. It neither involves a power switch nor external battery as it derives power from a PC, ridding users of so many exercises at one go. However, it misses out on card slot, which would have enhanced data transfer and storage options.
IScan has shown no penchant for looks, but has done an impressive job with the scanner performance. It can scan A4 sheets to small visiting cards or glossy photos, taking note of every colour and text. The source is fed into the scanner facing upwards, an unusual position, as in most scanners it?s faced downward. There is a mark on the right of the feeder indicating proper alignment for an accurate scan.
To run scans, a user can give command from the PC or simply put a finger in front of the command button, which has heat sensors to read and start scan automatically. Also, you have to push the paper inside a little till you feel it?s secure in it. The documents are scanned in JPG, BMP and TIFF formats and can be converted into PDF or Word.
It scans on minimum resolution of 100 dpi and a maximum of 600dpi. However, it is advisable to stick above 500 dpi if you desire for its best. It can scan a subject into colour or monochrome. We scanned various paper and photo sheets. For example an A4 colour/mono scan of text and document took 50 seconds, while a B&W A4 took 15 seconds.
IXA405 has all the elements which make it worth recommending. However, a few things like the lack of card slot and restriction to a PC will be felt a little.
