Gocher Takes Charge Of Yahoo! India

Yahoo!s current regional finance director for South Asia Darren Gocher will be taking charge of the portals India operations following the resignation of Yahoo! India CEO Deepak Chandnani. Neville Taraporewala, who currently heads the media business at Yahoo! India will take over as director sales and business development, according to a company press release.

Deepak Chandnani, the portals first country head joined in January 2001.

The portal has 27.8 million registered users from India and records a billion page views per month.

Mr Gocher is expected to take over as head of Yahoo! India in December 2002.

The release adds that Mr Taraporewala will be responsible for the companys operations on the ground in India.

Yahoo! India has developed its mobile services into a revenue stream with three mobile operators, covering 11 circles. The release states that revenues from mobile services have grown by over 35 per cent in the last quarter.
