Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhary today said that Goa remains to be safe destination for tourists.

"Goa has built up a reputation over the years and it needs to live upto that," she said adding the coastal state is safe.

Chowdhary, who is in Goa to participate in a private function interacted with a group of invitees in North Goa's Candolim beach village.

Questions have been raised on Goa's safety after a British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling was found dead on the state's Anjuna beach on February 18.

Also, Chowdhary has several meetings planned in the state with the officials, sources said.
