The taskforce on environment protection warned all fertiliser units on Tuesday to adopt the common chemical recovery system within three months to avoid forfeiture of their bank guarantee with pollution control boards.

It has also asked the aluminium industry to reduce the fluoride emission from one kg per tonne to 0.8 kg per tonne and iron and steel plants to use tar or oil or effluent treatment plant sludge in blast furnace. The high powered body met here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of environment and forest minister TR Baalu.
