Gas salute: Sensex surges 520 points

The markets were on fire on Friday, fuelled by the move to double the price of gas to $8.4/mmBtu, a decision cleared by the CCEA late on Thursday evening, reports fe Bureau in Mumbai. The Sensex gained 519.86 points to 19,395.81 even as the rupee rebounded to close at its strongest levels in nearly a week. Notably, FIIs turned net buyers on Friday after 12 consecutive sessions of selling, buying $189.41 million of stocks, having sold a little over $2 billion in the last two weeks.
