Shah Rukh Khan had said that he was excited about the fact that 'Happy New Year' was the first film to have dance and heist as a subject. Leading lady Deepika Padukone, who plays a bar-dancer, was also excited to explore a new genre.
Shah Rukh Khan will be looking at breaking the box office collection records of Dhoom3 and Krrish 3 with 'Happy New Year' releasing on a day after Diwali, which is a calculated move.
It's a well-known fact that the 'Happy New Year' is all set to release on October 24, the Farah Khan directorial was initially slated to release on a Thursday, which is October 23, coinciding with the Diwali celebration but the makers decided against it in order to safeguard their box office collections and instead pulled a Hrithik Roshan-type 'Krrish 3' strategic 'retreat'.
Happy New Year is said to be stretching over a time span of 188 minutes, which makes it a 3 hours 8 minutes long affair. This film which has grand sets, lavish and colourful costumes, larger than life characters is a commercial drama filled with glamorous elements of music, dance, stage shows etc. It has been extensively shot in Dubai and also is sprinkled with action and stunts.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, 'Happy New Year' also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah (son of Naseeruddin Shah), Jackie Shroff in prominent roles.
