The railway ministry is mulling the review of routes for the dedicated freight corridor project as too many flyovers, rail over bridges and other constructions are coming in the way. According to the feasibility report on the proposed first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata route, as many as 78 constructions need to be removed for laying the dedicated lines.

The proposed rail route will run parallel to the Golden Quadrilateral, connecting the four metros.
