Fortis Healthcare is looking at acquiring hospitals in tier-II and tier-III cities to expand its presence.
Fortis Healthcare CEO Bhavdeep Singh said, ?There is opportunity in India. The healthcare penetration level is comparatively low, particularly in tier-II and tier-III cities. Fortis seeks to expand its presence beyond the metros to these cities and we seriously look at acquiring, managing or setting up hospitals.?
?We have proved that we can acquire and manage big hospitals. It is evident from the fact that we have grown from a bed size of 3,500 through 28 hospitals to 8,500 beds through 48 hospitals now in just two years and we are aggressive on our growth path.”
According to him, any hospital with a bed size ranging between 125-175 in smaller towns and 275-400 in major cities are potential for possible acquisitions.
The company has also introduced personalised healthcare services – offering at the doorsteps of those who require – through mobile (on the move) and other modes, he said.
?We want to take the healthcare services to the next level by offering the same at the doorsteps of people. We see personalising the healthcare services as an emerging trend and we will take it through mobile way. We have introduced the services in two places on a pilot basis and with the success we will expand the same,? he said. Fortis has strong presence in North, some parts of West, including Mumbai but less in south and east. “We want to strengthen our presence in south.
