Under pressure from various trade bodies including the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Wednesday extended by a year the date for getting renewed existing licences as well as that for obtaining a new food business operator licence/registration under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. CAIT has been urging the government to extend the date by which food business operators must obtain licence/registration.
