FMC hunts for bigger office to house more staff

The Forward Markets Commission (FMC), a commodity futures market regulator, may shift its entire operation to new office premises shortly as the commission is in search of a bigger office in south Mumbai. The FMC, with its head office at Mumbai, is currently located at Everest building near the Marine Lines railway station and has also another small regional office at Kolkata.

The commission is looking for new office space measuring around 20,000 to 25,000 sqft carpet area in south Mumbai on a lease basis. We have already issued an advertisement for new office accommodation, Bharat Tripathi, director, adminstration, FMC, said. The commission will be expanding its office space from nearly 8,000 sqft to 25,000 sqft, Tripathi added.

We have a total staff strengthe of about 80-90 employees and the FMC is intending to expand this strength in the near future. There is a space constraint to seat the new staff, said another director of the FMC who wished to remain anonymous. Our offices are spread over the three floors of Everest building and it is in a residential area, a director added.
