Market men said increased stockists buying following rising demand in view of the marriage season against less arrivals from producing region led to the rise in select spices.
They said lower output estimates in growing areas also supported the uptrend in select spices. In the national capital, black pepper strengthened by Rs 200 to Rs 34,700-35,000, while red chilli traded higher by Rs 100 to Rs 6,400-8,900 per quintal, respectively.
Poppyseed (Turkey), MP-RaJ AND Kashmiri were also inquired higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 190, Rs 190-240 and Rs 175 per kg, respectively.
Cardamom brown -- Jhundiwali and kanchicut -- rose by Rs 10 each to Rs 760-770 and Rs 860-1090 per kg, respectively.
Cardamom small varieties like, chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra-bold prices were up by Rs 10 each to Rs 480-530, Rs 540-550, Rs 555-565 and Rs 700-710, respectively.
Cloves also traded higher by Rs 10 to Rs 770-935 per kg. The following are today's quotations:
