A fire broke out at a central Bombay office of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. on Friday. The office of the company in Centre Point accommodates mainly the HR and administration departments. The fire started on the first floor and spread upwards to other floors. There were no personnel present at the time and there has been no casualty and damage to life and all Nicholas Piramal personnel are safe. The company has also decided to shift its corporate office to Peninsula Chambers in Worli, NPILs chief operating officer Vijay Shah said. The fire started at about 4:30 am at our office which houses our HR department and there are no causalities, Mr Shah said.
The staff from Centre Point will be accommodated at the Corporate office at Morarjee Mills Compound, which is a separate location and at a safe distance away from Centre Point, he added.
The fire department is making all efforts to bring the situation back to normal and we are extending our total support to them. Since, the office is mainly engaged with HR and administration, there was no big financial loss, he said. The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained and at present the prime focus is to bring things back to normal, he added.
