Powered by a 1.4 litre engine, the petrol variants of Avventura will be priced between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 7.05 while the diesel variants are priced between Rs 6.89 lakh and Rs 8.17 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). Avventura, which was unveiled globally at Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year, comes with features like high terrain gauges, functional roof rails, large boot and 60:40 split seats. The sub 4-metre vehicle, built on the Punto platform, also has high ground clearance of 205 mm that is better than Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.
Terming it as a Contemporary Utility Vehicle (CUV), Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and MD, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, India Operations, told reporters that the company has already received around 15,000 enquires and 500 pre-launch bookings for the Avventura.
Fiat India, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has been pulling all punches to make a comeback in the domestic by adding new models in its product portfolio this year. The company has set a target of five products by the end of this year and nine by 2016 in its Indian line up. The company plans to launch iconic car brand Abarth later this year, which will initially be launched as a completely built unit and eventually be assembled locally to bring down costs.
The group will introduce the much-awaited Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models from the Jeep brand and Abarth Punto next year. While the Grand Cherokee and Abarth Punto will be locally produced, Wrangler will be imported.
