Fabindia, one of the leading name in Indian textiles, on Monday, opened a showroom in Mohali. The new showroom becomes the third Fabindia store in the tri-city of Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali and the 78th in the country.

Fabindia showcases Indian handlooms and provides employment to traditional artisans. Established in 1960, largely for connoisseurs of fine hand woven and handloom textiles in the western world, it was only in the mid-70s that the first retail store was opened in Greater Kailash, New Delhi.

Over the years, the range has been expanded to include upholstery fabrics, dhurries and home linens. Now, it is one of the favoured destinations for individuals when it comes to their own clothes, as well as the desire to do up their homes without compromising on quality. Organic and environment friendly products in addition to the textiles and ready-made garments have made the nearest Fabindia store the destination of choice for people who do not have one such store in their town.

According to Kavita Joshi, zonal marketing head, Fabindia, "There are many people who come all the ways from Ropar, Morinda Kharar and the other nearby towns to our outlet in Chandigarh. With the opening of Mohali outlet, the distance for them will be cut down drastically."
