Exports register 28% growth in October

As an indicator of Indias growing competitiveness, exports have registered a record growth of nearly 28% in October.

Exports during the month crossed the $8 billion mark which is 27.54% higher than the $6.3 billion posted during the corresponding period of 2004, commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath said here on Sunday.

The total exports during April-October 2005-06 amounted to almost $51 billion representing a cumulative growth rate of over 22% in seven months over exports during the corresponding period last year, said a release quoting the industry minister.

Excluding oil, the imports during April-October 2005-06 amounted to $50 billion. Oil imports during this period are valued at almost $25 billion.
