Exporters Told To Give Focus Areas

Commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath has asked trading houses to identify areas in which policy intervention is required to boost export.

Trading houses have asked for simplification of export procedures and resolution of connectivity problems in special economic zones (SEZs).

Exporters raised the issue of rupee appreciation which has had a dampening effect on exports. Representatives of food processing industries asked for reduction of excise duty on equipment required for the industry.
