Exide Industries is bullish on exports during the current year. The company is upbeat with the prospects of new export orders for its industrial batteries from countries like South Africa, Korea, Australia and Indonesia, among others.

The Rs 1,200-crore Exide is a major exporter of industrial, motorcycle and four-wheeler batteries. During 2003-04, the companys exports stood at about Rs 50 crore.

However, during the current year, the company will focus only on value-added products which are more remunerative. We dont want to export for exports sake only. Exporting value-added products like traction batteries make more sense for us, a highly placed Exide official here told FE.
