Chief election commissioner SY Quraishi on Tuesday said around 20 million new voters are expected to be enrolled in the country's electoral list this month and the Election Commission was also examining whether printouts could be made available from Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) amid allegations of their manipulation.

"Around 20 million new voters are likely to be enrolled in the voters list and they will be provided with voters identification cards on January 25, to be observed as National Voters Day," Quraishi told reporters.

While some states have already issued notification regarding inclusion of new voters, others would follow suit soon, he said. On allegations of manipulation of EVMs, Quraishi said, "Some political parties have suggested to evolve a mechanism which will ensure that the voters do not have doubt about their voting."
