The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) may be the watchdog for the countrys aviation sector, but it failed to notice a big irregularity in its own backyard. Sandeep Prakash, a director in the aviation ministry, has been serving as the AERA secretary without the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) approving this. After failing to notice this for a year, the matter has now been sent to the DoPT, asking for permission to allow Prakash to carry on till August 2011.

The buck stops here

Tata Sons filed an infringement case against MakeMyTrip for the domain name of the travel Websites community portal OkTaTaByeBye. While the case was filed at World Intellectual Property Organisation and was being fought abroad, it was shifted to Indian courts later. Reason Well Tata Sons and MakeMyTrip mutually agreed that why spend in dollars when same case can be fought in India. While the case is still being fought, the fact that theyve agreed on something is a sign of progress.

Damned by faint praise

As Mobile Number Portablility (MNP) kicked in, many of MTNLs mobile phone subscribers received calls from MTNL to enquire as to whether there were any complaints from the service. One journalist who got the call told the customer care executive that while most services were decent, the network strength in certain areas was dismal. To this, the executive responded, Thank you sir, and hung up.
