Phones offering WiFi seems to have become a feature that people are increasingly looking for and so are Qwerty phones. And especially, an enthusiast with an inclination towards social media would love the combination of both. Micromax Q75 does exactly that, but is a bit on the higher price at 8k. This is where Fly ICON B470 comes into the picture. At about Rs 2k lesser, the ICON B470 is a dual SIM phone with 3.2 MP camera, Track pad, 3.5 mm audio jack along with lots of social networking features.
Fly ICON B470 looks like any other Qwerty phone in the market, albeit a tad heavier. The back panel has a matte finish and features a 3.2 MP camera, a big 3D speaker and a lid. The lid shelters 1050 mAh battery, dual SIM slots and a micro SD card slot. Taking out the lid, the battery and the SIM card is quick and easy. The side frame has very little to talk about except for a 3.5 mm audio jack and a mini USB port. There is no dedicated sound key, which is quite unusual, as it would have only complimented its brilliant sound.
The front panel is black with black plastic keys and a vibrant 2.4-inch TFT display. Though, we felt that the display could have been a bit wider with the space around it. The display is followed by a track pad, which has Dial and Menu key to its left and Back and Disconnect key to its right. The Track pad response is fast and accurate and its sensitivity can be adjusted up to five levels according to one?s ease. In case one wants to feel it while using, it can be set on vibrator, which shakes it gently every time you touch it.
The display allows up to six most desired application shortcuts on-screen for instant access and can be altered anytime.
The display is trailed by a Qwerty keypad, with big elevated keys. They are smooth to type and cause no discomfort, but appear wobbly. The disconnect button also works as power button, while to unlock the display press the back key and the space. The interface is quick and responsive.
Fly ICON B470 has a 3.2 MP camera with video recording. It can shoot at a maximum picture resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels along with EV 2.0, 5 continuous shots, Flicker correction, white balance, effects and two scene modes. Video recording allows 3x digital zoom, but to no avail, as the video quality is mediocre and stutters a lot. Image quality is a lot better, but for a 3.2 MP it?s only second-rate. ICON B470 has an FM and it miserably failed to register even a single radio station after multiple auto searches. FM scheduled recording is available in AWB, AMR and WAV mode. But it wouldn?t be looked for as the transmission is highly disturbed.
The high point of ICON B470 is its brilliant speaker with 3D surround sound. The clarity and vibrancy of it makes B470 a stunning Qwerty phone with attributes of a music phone. The in-call sound is clear and solid and stays the same on loud mode. ICON?s WiFi assures quick networking and doesn?t take much time to open pages and apps like Gmail, etc.
Its other highlights include dual SIM, Bluetooth, email, video player, slideshow, Java games, audio player, eBook reader, MMS, GPRS, Yahoo messenger, Twitter, Facebook, SNAPTU, etc.
Lastly, B470 has a strong 1050 mAh battery, which gives up to 6 hours of uninterrupted back up and 3-4 days on conventional usage. On being connected with a PC via USB, it also works as a webcam for video chat.
It has 25 MB internal memory and can be expanded up to 8 GB. As we said in the beginning, Fly ICON B470 is a reasonably priced phone with many goodies to boast of. At 5.5k, it scores over Micromax Q75 with healthier sound quality and a reasonable price.
