DSCL posts 11% rise in sales

DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited (DSCL) has reported a 11 per cent growth in turnover to Rs 323.43 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2001, up from Rs 292.45 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of last year.

The improvement in turnover was on account of higher trading activity.

During the quarter, operating profits dropped marginally to Rs 28.62 crore from Rs 36.92 crore due to severe price pressure in commodities business such as plastics and chemicals.

Operating profit for the nine months ended December 31, 2001 at Rs 95.19 crore was down from Rs 105.05 crore reported in the corresponding period last year.
