Multinational footwear giant Nike is concerned about the cases of double books that have been reported from its contract factories in India. The company sees this burgeoning trait as a major concern and challenge for it in the future, according to Nikes head of Compliance in south Asia Tammy Rodriguez.

According to Ms Rodriguez, Double book or the practice of maintaining two sets of accounts, is a way of duping the government and in many cases, the company itself. For Nike, this practice has been prevalent for quite some time in China but for the first time it has been reported from India.

Nike, which outsources all its products including footwear, apparel and equipment, operates 30 contract factories in India compared to 142 in China.
