Sticking to its basics of social justice and state autonomy, DMK said on Wednesday that it would bring in a law to provide reservation for minorities and strive for a constitutional amendment seeking wholesome and genuine federalism if voted to power in Tamil Nadu.

The partys manifesto for the May 8 Assembly poll, released by DMK Chief M Karunandhi, also sought scrapping of article 356 from the constitution, which gave powers to the Centre to impose Presidents rule on states.

The Supreme court had laid many controls and conditions for the use of article 356. In order to avoid any kind of setback to the biggest democracy of the world, DMK would continue to press for scrapping of article 356, which provides for dismissal of state governments, it said.
