NokiaCourt asked IT department to examine afresh its Rs 2,080 cr alleged tax evasion notice.
In a relief to Nokia, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the I-T department to examine afresh its Rs 2,080 crore alleged tax evasion notice against the Finnish mobile handset maker.

A bench headed by Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, which had earlier stayed the operation of the notice till April 19, sent the matter back to the Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT) for fresh examination, asking it not to take any coercive action against the company till then, and decide the matter on or before May 31.

Nokia welcomes the courts decision to grant a stay on the demand... Nokia remains willing to cooperate fully with Indian tax authorities in accordance with all applicable laws. We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with India and look forward to a prompt and just resolution to this matter, the company said in a statement.
