Out of 762 students of Post-Graduate Programme in Management, 741 participated in the placements process this year. The remaining started their own ventures or returned to their companies or family businesses.
A total of 421 companies have so far made 798 offers. While the number of companies increased by 21 % over last year, the offers have increased by 27 %.
Almost 300 offers were made by 53 companies, such as Apple, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Facebook, Google, HCL, Hewlett Packard, IBM, ITC Infotech, Microsoft and Wipro, among others.
Consulting sector was the second largest recruiter, contributing 163 offers from around 30 companies including AT Kearney and Accenture.
With the rolling placements still under way, and around 5% of the class participating in various stages of the placements process, these numbers will only increase further, till the process concludes in May, ISB said in a statement without disclosing the salaries offered.
Under the integrated placements, students and recruiters were given an equal opportunity to interact with each other irrespective of the location.
This year saw a revival in hiring for finance positions wherein several leading banks and other financial institutions made a total of 75 offers on campus while pharma, healthcare and biotech remained steady for the third consecutive year and made 58 offers.
As for the functional areas, consulting along with sales and marketing were the two most preferred functional areas for ISB graduates attracting 27 % and 21% of students, respectively.
