It is unfortunate that the Union government has deferred a decision on setting up a pay commission for our MPs. India might be the only country in the world where legislators decide on their own salaries and allowances by simply passing a Bill in parliament. According to one estimate, two-thirds of the money spent annually on parliamentary expenditures are spent exclusively for MPs. How long would the common man of this poor country have to carry this burden?

Clarification
With regard to the front-page story ?DCB seeks to merge with a larger bank? published on April 10, Development Credit Bank?s managing director & CEO Gautam Vir has clarified that the bank wishes to remain independent and grow the business as per its strength and capabilities. DCB has said that it is not in discussion with any bank for a merger and has no such plans with larger banks.
