Reiterating that they would not move court immediately against universal access license policy, the cellular operators have said that they would like to engage in constructive dialogue with the government till the government issues detailed guidelines of unified access license. This was informed by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) director general TV Ramachandran to the media after their executive council meeting. However, COAI will not withdraw their appeal in the Supreme Court to uphold the minority judgment of Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) which had declared the provision of WLL-M services illegal. The case is slated to come up tomorrow.
The guidelines of the (unified licence) are not yet available. So we are not able to engage in any meaningful discussion...We will await it,Mr Ramachandran said.
