Vineeth Nair, managing director, Chicco, told FE The retail outlets will come up under franchise model. We entered the Indian market in April this year by opening an exclusive brand outlet in Delhi. Our second store was recently launched in Delhi and another one is coming up in two weeks' time. We plan to open two stores in Chandigarh by December and other cities will follow.
Chicco also has four shop-in-shop outlets in Gurgaon, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad and it further plans to open seven more within this fiscal in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Surat. The brand is also available through 1,500 distributors in India. With global sales of around Euro 850 million, Chicco has operations in over 100 countries with around 400 exclusive and multi branded outlets.
At present, Chicco products entire category is imported especially apparels, but in the long run, the company aims to turn India into a sourcing hub.
