Centre clears three SEZs in Himachal

The Centre has approved three special economic zones for Himachal Pradesh, industries minister Kuldeep Kumar informed the state Assembly on Friday.

The board of approval, set up by the Central government, has approved three SEZs for the state to be set up at Kangra, Una and Solan districts, he said during the question hour.Intervening, chief minister VB Singh said SEZs would be exempted from all state taxes for promoting exports.

He said the state government would only play the role of a facilitator to develop SEZs and promoters would be required to identify and acquire lands and get clearance from the Centre.

The chief minister said entrepreneurs were being

encouraged to set up new units in remote areas where they will be provided additional benefits.
