CEA Clearance To Kota Power Station Unit

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has accorded techno-economic clearance (TEC) to Kota thermal power stations 195 mw sixth unit in Rajasthan.

The project is to be executed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam at an estimated cost of Rs 634.78 crore, including interest during construction and financing cost of Rs 45.11 crore, a CEA release said on Thursday.

The government of Rajasthan has agreed to put in Rs 190 crore as equity money, which is about 30 per cent of the project cost. A loan of Rs 444.78 crore has been tied up with the Power Finance Corporation. The project is scheduled to be completed in 27 months from the date of placement of orders for the main plant and equipment.

The proposal, earlier submitted by the Rajasthan state electricity board with unit size of 210 mw, could not be accorded TEC by CEA due to a limit on chimney height imposed by the Airport Authority of India at 180 metre against ministry of environment & forest requirement of 220 metre from environmental angle.
