The Orissa Gana Parishad, a regional and political outfit, has accused the Naveen Patnaik government of indulging in wanton auction of the states iron ore deposits in the Daitari area and has demanded a CBI inquiry.

Two Hong Kong-based companies who had not participated in the tender for iron ore export through the state-run Orissa Mining Corporation had been given the work order, the OGP chief Bijay Mohapatra said on Saturday here. He said OMC had floated tenders in September 2001 for exporting 1.20 lakh tonne of iron ore and the same was awarded to Transworld Commodity of Dubai, said to be the highest bidder. Interestingly, the two Hong Kong-based companies entered the fray though they had not participated in the tender, he alleged.
