Cartoon Network has decided to address Indias festival season of Dussera and Diwali with the unveiling of Ramayan The Legend of Prince Ram on October 5, 2002. Ramayan, along with Pandavas - The Five Warriors, is a part of specially packaged festival-centric programming.

Says Turner Entertainment Networks Asia Inc senior vice-president and general manager Ian Diamond: Its true that the film has earlier been shown by a broadcaster but by being in Cartoon Network it will get a big charge. Its in a positive environment. Ramayan has appeal across markets, though currently weve acquired it for India.

Cartoon Network is said to have posted 42 per cent growth in ad sales in the last two quarters. The channel is increasingly attracting non-children centric brands like Gilli and Pantene.

According to the company: The two-hour feature-length animation (in Hindi as well English) will be telecast in half-hour episodes at 4:00 pm every Saturday in October, leading up to Diwali. On Diwali, the epic will be telecast in its entirety starting 12:00 pm.
