Cardamom prices rose by Rs 8 to Rs 1,029.70 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged their positions, driven by a firm demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for the January contract rose by Rs 8, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 1,029.70 per kg, with a trading volume of 371 lots.

The spice for delivery in February up by Rs 6.20, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 1,066.10 per kg, with a business volume of 58 lots.

Traders said rising export and spot demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
