Cardamom prices rose by 0.64 per cent to Rs 854.90 per kg in futures trade on Thursday due to rising demand in the spot market against less arrivals.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July gained Rs 5.40, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 854.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 68 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in August gained Rs 3.70, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 891 per kg, with an open interest of 12 lots.

Market analysts said rising demand in the spot market against less arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
