Cardamom prices rose by Rs 6.70 to Rs 885.90 per kg in futures trading on Tuesday as speculators created fresh positions on the back of pick-up in spot market demand against restricted arrivals.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October gained Rs 6.70, or 0.76 per cent, to Rs 885.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 21 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July edged up by Rs 2.50, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 836.50 per kg, with an open interest of 402 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick-up in demand in the spot market against limited arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
