Business 2B The Focus Of Nasscom Meet

The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) is clearly focussed on business for its forthcoming annual meet this year. The four-day Nasscom 2003 that gets off the ground on February 11 in Mumbai will have a sizeable component of chief information officers (CIOs) of global corporations in business verticals ranging from banking and financial services to retail, presenting a clear target for Indian software vendors.

According to Nasscom president Kiran Karnik, the meet will focus on the ground realities and business opportunities in the near term, instead of crystal-gazing sessions that mark tech shows and conferences.

The association is also gearing up for buyer-seller match-making to aid small and medium software companies in identifying potential customers during the meet that it sees as a pure B2B focussed conference. But we will step aside after the introductions, since our involvement with actual deal-making could create complications, Mr Karnik said.

Nasscom 2002 had proved to be a low key affair in the backdrop of the global tech slowdown compounded by the 9/11 aftermath that led to delegates pulling out at the last minute.
