Bulgaria has evinced interest in tapping Indias expertise in setting up IT parks and schemes. It also wants India to invest there in the IT sector, which would include setting up call centres also.

A delegation of IT experts from Bulgaria is expected to visit India early next year to study Indias experience in IT and to identify areas of future co-operation.

This will be followed by a visit by an Indian delegation to Sofia, according to sources in the ministry of external affairs (MEA).

Sources said that the programme for cooperation in science and technology for the period 2002-2004 is likely to be renewed for another 3-year period from 2005.

In order to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, bilateral institutional arrangements like joint business councils and joint commissions on economic, scientific and technical cooperation and working groups on electronics and information technology have been set up at the non-government and government level and these panels have been meeting on a regular basis.

However, the difficulties faced by Indian businessmen in getting visa for Bulgaria has hampered the growth in bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.
