Sep CPI-IW at 11.64%

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for September, 2009 is 11.64% as compared to 11.72% in August.

17 lakh t sugar for Nov

The central government has released 17.14 lakh tonne (levy+ non-levy) sugar for November, an official statement said on Friday. Of this, around 2.14 lakh tonne has been fixed for levy (sugar sold through PDS), while the mills will be free to sell the remaining amount in the open market. Separately, the government has also allowed extended the time given to mills for selling their unsold non-levy sugar and also for white sugar processed from imported whites.

Bhasin to join BAGI

Sonu Bhasin, president retail financial services , Axis bank has been appointed as the MD and CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. Axis bank has bancassurance tie-up with BAGI for selling the companys insurance products. Swaraj Krishnan has recently quit as the chief of BAGI.

Aspen India chairman

Gautam Thapar , chairman and CEO of Avantha Group has been elected as the new chairman of the Aspen Institute India. He succeeds Jamshyd N Godrej, CMD, Godrej & Boyce, as chairman of the institute. Godrej will now assume the role of chairman-emeritus.

Sibals VRS rejected

Oil regulator V K Sibal, who is being probed by CVC and CBI for allegedly favouring Reliance Industries, on Friday bid farewell to DGH and will today rejoin parent Oil India as it has rejected his application for voluntary retirement. With Central Vigilance Commission finding a deficit of trust in him on the allegations, Sibal was denied an extension as director general of hydrocarbons.
