Branded 'Desi Wheat' by Hafed

The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (Hafed) would launch 'Desi Wheat' in 25 kilogram jute bag under its brand name from May 31, 2007.

While stating this on Wednesday, a spokesman of the Hafed said initially it would be made available only at Hafed's selected outlets situated at Panchkula, Delhi, Taraori, Faridabad and Gurgaon from Thursday. Desi Wheat launched by Hafed is cleaned, destoned, graded and packed at its own complex at Taraori. It is moderately priced at Rs 17.50 per kilo gram which was inclusive of all taxes, he added.

He said that this newly launched variety of wheat is procured by Hafed through its programme of contract farming in the districts of Gurgaon, Jhajjar and Rewari. These districts are traditionally known for growing C-306 variety of Desi Wheat. Under the contract farming programme Hafed had arranged quality certified seeds, provided advisory services and crop insurance to its contract farmers for their benefit. At the same time, the consumers would also be satisfied as this variety of wheat would ensure quality with brand .

He said other consumer products of Hafed are kachchi ghani mustard oil Agmark grade-1, Basmati and non-Basmati rice, refined soyabean and cotton seed oil.
