Today?s games are more cinematic than ever, and having the right audio experience is critical. Using the GameCom 777 headset featuring Dolby headphone technology allows you to play the game the way the developers intended for it to be experienced. But the first thing you?ll notice about the versatile, open-air Plantronics GameCom 777 headset is the size of the earphones. It?s ear enclosed design earcups have cushioned pads for long and relaxed gaming sessions. Though it is a little heavy on your ears, the build is tough and smart. It comes along with a Dolby 7.1 surround sound card, which makes it a splendid headset, irrespective of whether you are using it for gaming or high definition movies.

Plantronics GameCom 777 is a circumaural headphone with rugged and sporty look, and is geared with 7.1 surround sound to enrich your PC gaming environment. GameCom 777 has an over-head retractable band with a cushioned pad in-between. The retractable part is thin and is the only weak link in this otherwise tough headset. There is a slim mic with noise cancellation feature that slides under the frame, and is not easily visible unless you take a closer look. Gamecom 777 has a long and strong cable made from a unique plastic fibre with an elegant module for volume control and mic switch, in between and is followed by a 3.5 mm audio and mic jack at the end of the cable. The D111 sound card connects with a PC via USB and to the headphone via 3.5 mm slot.

In terms of performance, GameCom 777 boasts of Dolby D111 sound card, which yields 7.1 surround sound effect, reflected in the considerable improvement in the sound quality, especially in gaming environments. Bass and thumping effect was good, but can be sensed well with the sound card. The audio clarity is remarkable, even if the volume is full. Noise cancellation is impressive as GameCom 777 keeps the noise out well to keep you fully engrossed. However, noise isolation is not adequate and some amount of sound still manages to escape.

GameCom 777 is an impressive gaming headset, but is priced slightly on the higher side. On the other hand, there are other gaming headsets, quite at par with this one, like the Razer Orca that costs a mere 3.5k. To sum up, it is an excellent performer with a few loose ends such as weight, inept noise isolation and price.
