The Congress Friday tore into the Narendra Modi government over the black money issue after the Centre informed the Supreme Court that it cannot disclose information received from countries with which India has double taxation avoidance agreement.

Recalling the BJPs election time rhetoric of bringing back black money in 100 days and its constant snipes at the UPA for not effective action, it said the government stand has exposed the sheer hypocrisy and dishonesty of the BJP and demanded an unconditional apology from the PM.

The Congress also took potshots at Anna Hazare, yoga guru Ramdev, a self-proclaimed campaigner for bringing back black money and former AAP leader Kiran Bedi asking whether they will sit on a fast outside the PMO demanding action from the government.

Is there a bigger hypocrisy which you have come across...This is not only a hiatus between what you preach and what you practise...the words and the deeds. This is sheer hypocrisy and dishonesty with the public and at least you should have the courage to tell the people that reality in governance is different from rhetoric from the pulpits when you seek to mislead people to get votes, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
