Rohit Ohri is appointed Dentsu India executive chairman

Rohit Ohri has resigned from his post as managing partner and senior vice-president of advertising agency JWT India to join Dentsu India Group as its executive chairman. Ohri, who resigned last week from JWT after 21 years at the agency, will report to senior vice-president Yuzuru Kato of Dentsu Inc., at the global headquarters in Tokyo. As executive chairman, Dentsu India Group, Ohri will spearhead all Dentsu India Group companies and India business. Ohris appointment is the latest development in a year which has seen Dentsu acquired full ownership of its India operations buying back the 26% stake held by its former executive chairman Sandeep Goyal.

Said Kato said, India is one of the most important markets for us within the Dentsu Network. I am delighted to welcome Rohit-san as head of our India business. Ohri, who joined JWT Kolkata in April 1990, has played an integral role in JWT Delhi, which is today one of the largest JWT offices in the network handling brands such as Airtel, Nokia,

Pepsi and Ford. Rohit Ohri has nearly twenty-four years of experience in advertising communications, twenty-one of which were spent at JWT, India. Following his very successful seven-year stint as head of the PepsiCoJWT relationship in Central Asia, he was designated managing partner for JWT Delhi in 2005. Over the last six years, Ohri has led the enormous success of JWTs Delhi office, making it the largest and most profitable branch in Asia Pacific, and one of the top ten JWT offices globally.

Sanjeeb Chaudhuri is Standard Chartered group CMO

Standard Chartered Consumer Banking has appointed Sanjeeb Chaudhuri as regional head, South Asia and group chief marketing officer for consumer banking. Chaudhari will be responsible for Standard Chartereds consumer banking operations in India and heads of consumer banking in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka will report to him. Prior to this, Chaudhari was with Citibank, where he held the position of chief executive officer, retail and commercial banking for central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africe. He also held the role of head, retail banking and chief marketing officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Former IBD India ECD Anil Kakar starts ad agency Gasoline

Anil Kakar, former executive creative director with IBD India has floated his own venture, named Gasoline. Gasoline will offer everything you would expect from an advertising agency, he said. It will also be involved in creating mobile and web-based applications, editorial design, viral marketing, and designing retail environments. The idea behind Gasoline is to create a platform for like-minded creative people, who can seamlessly extend and synergise communication across traditional and non-traditional media, which in turn, will ensure greater consistency in the creative output, he said.

Samir Khanna is Mudra Max media head-west

Mudra Max (Integrated Engagement and Experience) has recently appointed Samir Khanna as media head-west. Prior to this, Khanna was in-charge of Mumbai clients for Mudra India. To add value to Mudra Maxs media offering in the West, it has integrated all the mass media teams as a single unit, Mudra Max Media. Khanna will look after Mumbai and Ahmedabad clients and will report to Mudra Max CEO Pratap Bose. Khanna started his career with HTA and later on worked with Lodestar, TME, Madison and others.
