Ballarpur Industries Ltd (Bilt) has achieved its go live enterprise resource planning (ERP) initiative titled Ankur. Bilt has become one of the few companies in the paper industry to implement a full fledged ERP programme, according to a company press release.

Bilts integrated enterprise solution uses packages from Oracle and Optivision for mapping financials, procurement, quality, sales and manufacturing. The Oracle 11i e-business suite is the industrys first integrated suite of e-business applications that automates critical business processes across both front and back office operations.

Bilt vice-chairman and managing director Gautam Thapar said it was an important milestone for the company as it moves towards being customer centric and market driven. We believe that in the coming days, it is this shift from being production led to being service driven, which will drive customer preference.

The pilot consists of Ballarpur unit, head office and four regional sales offices around the country. The remaining mills and related offices would be integrated subsequently.
