Bharti rings in Rs 755 cr

On the back of growing subscriber base, the countrys largest mobile operator, Bharti Airtel, on Wednesday posted a 48% rise in net profit to Rs 755 crore in Q1 ended June 30. Total revenues registered a jump of 53% to Rs 3,856 crore.

Bhartis share closed at Rs 382.90 on the BSE on Wednesday, up 3.68% over the previous close.

During the quarter, Bharti added 3.65 million subscribersthe highest ever net additions. However, the average revenue per user (ARPU) was down by Rs 50 to Rs 441 over Q1, 2005-06. Over the preceding quarter, ARPU fell marginally by Re 1.

Revenues from valued added services during the quarter stood at 10.8% as against 10.2% during the corresponding period last fiscal. Minutes of usage went up to 431 as against 383 in the first quarter of last fiscal. By June-end, Bharti had over 24.58 million subscribers, which is an increase of 86% over Q1 of last fiscal. The company market share stands at 22.5%.
