The company had a net profit of Rs 40.61 crore in the December quarter of 2007, Bata India said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Net sale rose to Rs 984.37 crore in the fourth quarter of 2008 from Rs 865.45 crore in the year ago period.
On a standalone basis, Bata India posted a net profit of Rs 21.11 crore in latest quarter of 2008 as compared to Rs 21.10 crore in the corresponding year ago period.
The company's net sales rose to Rs 255.22 crore in the fourth quarter of 2008 from Rs 233.97 crore in the same quarter last year.
Besides, the company has declared a dividend of 25 per cent on equity shares for the financial year ended December 31, 2008. It further said the move is subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Shares of the company jumped 7.67 per cent to close at Rs 82.85 on the BSE.
