Barley price falls on adequate supply, subdued demand

Barley prices fell by Rs 30 per quintal in thin trade on the wholesale grains market today on reduced offtake by consuming industries, against adequate supplies.

However, other grains moved in a tight range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by consuming industries against adequate supplies mainly led the fall in barley prices.

In the national capital, barley fell by Rs 30 to Rs 1,420-1,430 per quintal.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,050-2,250, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,590-1,585, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,600-1,605, Atta Rajdhani

(10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 850-870 (50 kg), Maida 900-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 950-980 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,500, Super Basmati Rice, 9,000, Basmati common new 7,300-7,400, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 6,900-7,500, Permal raw 2,050-2,150, Permal wand 2,325-2,375, Sela 2,550-2,600 and Rice IR-8 1,700-1,750, Bajra 1,350-1,355, Jowar yellow 1,425-1,450, white 2,250-2,450, Maize 1,480-1,510, Barley 1,420-1,430, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
