The main aim of AutoMechanika 2003, which started here on Tuesday, is to expose smaller and medium firms to commercial opportunities and to forge partnerships and joint ventures.

Speaking at the event, AutoMechanika organisers Messe Frankfurt Indias managing director Shammi Nagpal said, The fair looks to open new windows of opportunity for companies that do not have the financial backing to otherwise reach out to potential business partners.

The automotive component trade fair, which will continue till Friday, is a scaled down version of a single large mother event held annually in Frankfurt, Germany.

The event involves 50 participant firms from the United States, the UK, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, Turkey, China, France and Germany.

Ms Nagpal revealed that though the number of participating firms had dropped by about 10 since the previous year, the spirit of the occasion was still present.
